Jezebel

Owen Davis's play about a fiery Louisiana belle was not a hit when it appeared on Broadway in 1933 starring Miriam Hopkins. The staging could not communicate the patrician splendor of the plantocracy. The movie adaptation starring Bette Davis, however, proved one of the spectacular films of the 1930s. http://www.ibdb.com/production.php?id=11805
